Gladiator did not leave Xtreme Yard with the World Championship. Nine days later, he left Boston with a place in the Men’s Treasure Map Ladder Match. The Triple Threat victory over Sinister and Massacre gives him a new objective following his Hell in a Cell defeat to Zhane Saint Savior.
His celebration closed Midnight Fatality, but qualification is only the first step. Hail to the King’s six-man ladder match will award the Treasure Map to one winner. Jay Crowe is the only other confirmed entrant so far, with four places still open.
Analysis: the contract offers a different route from a direct championship challenge. Winning it would give Gladiator the right to request a title match at any time under HWE rules. He still has to win the ladder match before that possibility becomes his to use.
Boston also changed the immediate World Championship picture. Savior agreed to face Asolis at Outspoken on October 25. Gladiator’s focus now turns to November 1 at The O2 Arena in London.
