Midnight Fatality review: new champions, unfinished business

Episode 8 gave the road to Xtreme Yard a decisive turn. At Pittsburgh’s UPMC Events Center, Hack Supremacy won the World Tag Team Championship, Santa Hulk won his in-ring debut, and Shaun Myers beat Jay Crowe. Each result arrived with someone else influencing the outcome.

Soul opened the show by confirming his Xtreme Yard match and the anonymous General Manager’s stipulation. A win alongside Massacre against Skeletor and Damien Skull puts Soul into a future title match involving those two opponents. Later, Soul attacked both men during their backstage discussion of the event.

The opening match changed the tag division. Massacre and Killer Kong defeated Masters of Lucha after Les Français cost Master Mexico and Angelo De Rio the match. Hack Supremacy leave Pittsburgh with the championships; Masters of Lucha leave with a 28-day reign behind them and Les Français in their way.

Santa Hulk’s first match ended in victory over Day Seventeen. The returning Sinister helped make that possible, turning a debut into a direct escalation of his own conflict with Day Seventeen. Their Street Fight is now part of Xtreme Yard.

Gladiator stood tall after his segment with Zhane Saint Savior. The World Champion’s Hell in a Cell defense is approaching, and the challenger claimed the last advantage on Midnight Fatality.

Shaun Myers won the main event against Jay Crowe with Danny DeBoer’s help. The situation immediately changed when DeBoer attacked Myers afterward. Putting DeBoer in charge of their Falls Count Anywhere rematch makes his decisions one of the central questions heading into Philadelphia.

Haunted Jacob’s offer to team with Shakeem Empire completed another piece of the card. They face Asolis and Genji Rysker in an Unsanctioned match. The anonymous General Manager’s closing announcement brought all six Xtreme Yard matches together.

Pittsburgh worked as a final chapter before a premium event because its results created consequences. New champions have arrived, old rivals have returned, and the next matches now have clear stakes.
